Hertfordshire Care Providers Association

“Sharing best practice in care through partnership”

Hertfordshire Care Providers Association is a "not for profit" membership body open to all independent providers of social care (private, not-for-profit and charitable organisations) delivering care to people in their own homes, in a residential, supported or a nursing setting within Hertfordshire.

The organisation has been in existence for over twenty years. It was originally set up to represent care for the older sector, via a dedicated committee led by the late chairman, Martin Wigg, but over recent years has developed to mirror the sector as we know it today, and to that end we now represent care providers supporting individuals with a diverse range of care needs. We hold quarterly meetings with professional speakers giving the opportunity to exchange views, network and obtain information on a topical issue. We ensure that members are kept up to date with events, local or national government policy & regulatory changes that impact on the Independent Sector.

Membership of HCPA is considered a sign of a progressive organisation, committed to delivering the highest standards of care and keen to play an active part in the county’s wider social care community. Representatives of the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association attend regular strategic and liaison meetings with Adult Care Services, to discuss and review contracts, procedures and other issues, and work in partnership with the local authority on a variety of initiatives aimed both at tackling immediate issues facing vulnerable people and designing better ways of working for the future.

In addition we have strong links with CQC (the Care Quality Commission) and regularly liaise with stake holders, other decision makers, influencers and interested organisations.

Hertfordshire Care Providers Associations main aims are:-

• To represent the interests of independent care providers
• To work with the local authorities and other statutory and regulatory bodies in Hertfordshire to help us all  improve social care delivery.
• To encourage the sharing of best practice amongst our members and the maintenance of the highest possible standards of care amongst our members.
• To negotiate with Adult care Services the annual fee reviews and contractual revisions with the County Council.
• To work with the Social Care Workforce Development Group to try to ensure that their central government funded training programmes and associated policies are in the best interests of the independent sector.
• To provide, through this website, information on social care in Hertfordshire and to help people considering social care for themselves or a relative.
