The Government has taken a step closer to establishing how long-term care can be funded in the UK.
Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said a commission tasked with exploring ways in which a "sustainable care and support system for all adults" could be funded and implemented would report back within a year, raising hopes of a new support network for the UK's at-home carers.
Mr Lansley said he wanted the system to put "individuals and their families at its heart", adding that a range of funding options including voluntary insurance and partnership schemes must be considered by the commission.
